My condolences to the family, Larry and everyone who loved him.

He was a generous, thoughtful, open-minded person.
This is indeed an enormous loss for ccc and computer chess as a whole.

I was always happy when Don replied to my messages. He had some encouraging words for me, and I appreciated it very much.

I hope that in your next reincarnation you will meet your loved ones again and, please, Don, choose again computer chess as a centerpiece of your activity.

this is an absolutely inspirational story.

for the last couple years he seemed so completely dedicated, so utterly determined to catching Houdini,

working on Komodo while terminally ill almost until the very end...
and now, yes, with the last release, shortly before dying...it seems he has actually done it!

an truly impressive accomplishment from
an amazing individual!

Condolences to Don's family and friends. It must be hardest of all on his wife and parents in particular. Your parents aren't supposed to outlive you, and it must be very hard for any parent to have to go through the pain of losing a son or daughter like that.

Don worked on Komodo almost to the end, I'm so sorry for him that he didn't get to see his brainchild perform in the TCEC superfinal, which was very important to him. But the most important thing of all was to have his family and friends around him.

Don, now you know, is this passion THIS WAY? To die, it happens. But it can be only way to know.
Maybe, I can't be friendly, but let me be useful.
