Wow.

I'd taken a break from computer chess for a while due to real-life demanding some attention, so this is a bit of a shock. You never fully appreciate that life goes on elsewhere where the internet is concerned, and you expect to find it more-or-less as you left it when you get back to it.

I don't think I ever really interacted with Don Dailey, but I've always read his posts with interest. My condolences to his friends and family.

Don,

May you rest in peace our dear friend.
In this New Year, we unstick this thread, but we will never forget you.

Whenever we use komodo Don is in our Hearts. I will never forget him sitting behind his computer, with this happy smile on his face. The interested big eyes and the open mind. The warm words he always had. Even when things were annoying. Or difficult. He had so much energy. And shared it to all of us.
What seems like a fairy tale today may be reality tomorrow.
Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....

I understand the decision, but I feel sorrow because of it . Don will very fast disappear of this pages and with that of the memory of many. It bothers me that silly threads about cellphones benchmark will push him out of sight.

Hope it will be so.
We must be loyal to friends no matter if they are alive or dead.

I do not believe in nothing but in politeness, good taste and loyalty.

Interesting 3 rules.

So honesty is less important.

I suppose "good taste" can include many things too. But not absolute. Perhaps "good taste" can be open to interpretation.
So are you saying you have a perfect formula?

Horrible way to die!

Yeah he used to bring MiT students with him.
Then stayed the weekend here.

One occasion (not the year of the photo) i remember how the first day my mother had cooked a lot of different Dutch dishes. Don tasted everything. The 2 meter tall student hardly, as i had feared beforehand. Usually he pointed at them saying: "he's gonna improve my evaluation", meanwhile eating on. The next day we got Chinese food (indonesian-chinese kitchen). That student ate for 3 persons then. Meanwhile Don stayed the gentleman as ever!

I still remember him walking in the door!

A gentleman in manners, a giant in legacy!
