Oh, damn. I was thinking I'd register for this, but I just realised that the arrival of Sinterklaas is in the same weekend, which is an unskippable event with kids in the appropriate age bracket… :( (not that that isn't fun, but it's a shame it clashes).

Perhaps an operator can be arranged for the day of the Sinterklaas event?

I guess that's an option. Not sure how to go about finding an operator though; I don't think I personally know anyone who might be able to.

Sinterklaas will probably be a two-day affair: there's the TV event on Saturday morning (so technically I could make it for Saturday afternoon, but not in time for the first round), then on Sunday there's the arrival in Amsterdam (although that might be less fun this year, not fully decided yet).

In an ideal situation when a club organizes a computer chess tournament they should provide a stand in service. Participant would be able to hire an operator and a computer. Although this service might be expensive for most of us. Perhaps cheepest price would be say ten Euro's per hour when operators are students and member of local chess clubs.

Or perhaps visitors should registrate in advance and be asked if they would like to be operator. Participant should write a good user- and installation manual too.

I would pack a laptop, tell everyone Sinterklaas is not real and run out of the house!

I do this all the time and I don't even have a family!
