There is always the chance that you could make a blunder or a poor move but I can't see any way for black to hold the draw here. Thanks for the game anyway.Masterbaiter wrote:I would hesitate to say that you are beaten yet

Don't the other moves, since the first few, make much difference at all?Terry McCracken wrote:White has the advantage, Black's play is compromised, in both games.S.Taylor wrote:I don't think any of this is the issue here.Masterbaiter wrote:In compensation for the weak pawns white has the open files and his pawns also cover all the valuable centre squares.
Atleast it depends on which cause of action we are trying to take, as white.

They do but not enough if your opponent exploits a bad opening such as this one, with Black no less.S.Taylor wrote:Don't the other moves, since the first few, make much difference at all?Terry McCracken wrote:White has the advantage, Black's play is compromised, in both games.S.Taylor wrote:I don't think any of this is the issue here.Masterbaiter wrote:In compensation for the weak pawns white has the open files and his pawns also cover all the valuable centre squares.

Re: MD v JL: Gambit declined
I don't know what he thought was better.
Surely the most ideal achievement in development is to get all the pieces to their most comfortable places and all working together. It's not much point in having horses dancing around aimlessly and getting in the way of everything else, and being lucky to exchange it off to get it out of the way. Getting things in the way and messing things up doesn't gain any tempo.
(BTW, I think this description is what can happen with REAL horses!)
