Sting-sf-6 a quasi-intelligent engine

Post by lech »

It is a next part of my project.
Sting is based on an old version of Stockfish (2.1.1) and is not an ELO-gain challenge.
I try to prove that engines can solve some deep and tough ("logical") positions without tricks ("null move search" disabling, Monte Carlo, tablebases, "rule 50") and an artifical intelligence. More, it is possible wiith saving ELO level.
I think I hope that I diagnosed now all the possible reasons leading a search of the best move to nothing and I prepared some needed tools (code).
Of course, I can't promise that Sting-sf-6 is able to solve all the difficult positions just now.
But, I believe that a next version of my project (some questions needs my work yet) will do it.

BTW.
I prepared a short list of such difficult ("logical") and important positions (full spectrum of diagnosed by me problems).

Thanks for your efforts.
Your engine can often solve problems more easily than other engines.
I thank you, once again.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Hi Marek,

I have Sting SF in my Rating List.
So I will added in on my ToDo list (a lot to do here) ...

:-)

Have thanks for your update.

I understand what you try with your engine but I like it to see your development in my Rating List. Hope it's OK for you.

Best

I have used sting from sting-sf-47-x64

I use Sting SF 5 a lot and is my favorite in chess pussle.

I tryed to set up Sting SF 6 and it not work.
In the set-up prosess Fritz 14 UCI is frozen.

I have a Hashwell cpu intel i7 4790.

And I use Fritz 14 UCI when I set up Sting SF 6.

I try all variant, 32-bit, 64 bit and XP-variant.

What is wrong?

Thank you, for the the good enter for the new version of my project.

In fact, this version is probably first playable engine having possibilities to join a high ELO level (Stockfish 2.1.1) with the full spectrum of avoiding questions by other. Some special versions or tricks are only a false way to prove that only an artifical intelligence is able to do it.
Sting is "one brain in one head" engine and the gate are open.

It is a fact too that Sting still needs a solid work to improve (correct) "search" and to get full succes.
Sorry, but my work (old dual core) may take some long time yet.

Sting-sf-6 was compiled in the same way as previous versions and should work there where the previous ones worked.
I am not able to do some other special compilations; sorry.
