Embla 0.9.9 released

Post by flok »

Hi,

Yesterday evening I released Embla 0.9.9.
It is +/- 150 elo stronger than 0.9.7. On fics that is 2290 elo for standard games (2030 for blitz and 2167 for lightning).

https://vanheusden.com/Embla/

It now also supports xboard but please do not use the xboard protocol (use UCI instead) as for some unknown reason it plays considerably weaker with xboard.

It supports polyglot and syzygy books.

Congrats, nice improvement :D

What did you change between 0.9.7 and 0.9.9 to get these 150 Elo points?

- endgame detection for psq
- only check if a move is valid when "doing" it
- a bit in the TT which tells if null move will help or not (for non-exact tt hits)
- movesort improvements (psq + hbt)
- zobrist for null move
