Wasp 2.00 test-run ... very very strong in the beginning!

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

at the moment I am tested a prototyp of my new opening book (need games for set the right priorities between the ECO codes) with the new version of Wasp 2.00 BMI x64. My new opening book will be ready around end of Dezember 2017.

Test-Run:
http://www.amateurschach.de/ftptrigger/ ... arian.html

Wasp have to play 4.000 games with FCP conditions (my older rating list) vs. 20 engines. At the moment the result is around +20 Elo.

But much more important is the style of Wasp. Easy to see with the stats on my webpage to my older FCP Rating List that Wasp 1.25 is very strong in the first gaming phase. The new version seems to be much stronger here!

After 700 of 4.000 games ...
No games lost undo move 50 and 6 games won. I know that Wasp as one of the best available engine for analysing openings ... also a main reason that I will work on a Wasp book too later.

Here different of the games Wasp 2.00 won very fast with nice combinations. And two of the games vs. attacking monster Hakkapeliitta. Not often we can visit a game Hakkapeliitta lost fast.

I am very happy with the work from John. Such a strong opening fighter I need for position tuning of opening book positions. And Wasp will be follow as next analyze engine here ... in view days after Fire is ready (Fire is here still running).

To Wasp:
The endgame is also very strong. Main problem Wasp have is the very late middlegame / transposition into endgame. Here I think Wasp need at first 1-2 plys more. But I will search later if my work on the new book is ready. I am sure that John can make Wasp 100-150 Elo stronger if this gaming phase the main Point for further optimations. For the start of the game and the endgame ... nothing to do at the moment.

Re: Wasp 2.00 / FEOBOS v3 ... stats!

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

now 3.000 / 4.000 games played.
900 with the new FEOBOS v3 opening book.

Have a look on Wasp page and please looking in detail the information to the A00-E99 stats on the end of the message.

The new book produced a perfect simulation to grandmaster chess. Typical Wasp stats I can see here with the first 3.000 games. Very strong in the beginning and endgame and light problems in the transposition into endgame.

Hi there,

after 4.000 Wasp 2.00 BMI2 x64 games can be found in Wasp Detail page with some stats.

http://www.amateurschach.de/main/_wasp.htm

As next I will test Wasp dev. versions here.
At the moment I switched information with John about it.

Hi Gerhard,

now on 29 :-)

With FEOBOS we can see a lot after Wasp analysis.
Positions others give 0,00 and Wasp have higher evals.

Should be clear that Wasp have a very strong eval but with that information I hope John can improved here a bit.

I will test soon dev. versions on my site.
If you like you can follow.

And if John have a clearly improved version I think we all will be happy to see that in CEGT or CCRL.

Have a nice weekend !!

Re: Now the same with Wasp 20170527 / FEOBOS v4

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

now the same 4.000 games vs. the same group of opponents with:

1. Wasp 20170527 BMI2 x64 (dev. version, around 15-20 Elo stronger as Wasp 2.00 / 2.01)

2. With FEOBOS v4.0 -mt -draw ... (Wasp should be play no bad lines because nothing of such things anymore in FEOBOS book database. A very high book contempt will the result / produced too).

With full WASP & FEOBOS dev. power ...
I will see ... go John go ... means go Wasp go ...

But need a while because for 4.000 (40 moves in 10 minutes) games only 4 cores are still working.

I understand this processor has 6 cores with 12 threads when hyper-threading is enabled, but what do you mean by
"4x Hyperthreading"?

Hi Ferdinand,

what I have to write here:
"10 of 12 threads" only?

Re: Question ...

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi Ferdinand,

could you give me the direct link?
So I can added it on FEOBOS page.

I think this link is an older work by yourself?
http://poseval.bitballoon.com/

Sorry for my late answer.
I think I had the brain full of dev. from the Excel file.
