Considering that the S8+ and S8 have the same processor and and general hardware specs it is strange to see the difference in the benchmarks. A lot of the benchmarks on this list seem exaggerated as my personal testing shows figures less than that published. I can only guess that testers are not adhering to the same testing conditions.

Could be a heating problem. Maybe the s8 + has less heating problems because it is a bigger phone, also some people change hash size, although this is not the original setting, and some people do not wait 120 seconds.

This all leads to different values.

The mobiles begin with a peak of very high nps and after a while heating issues appear.
The NPS reduces, and important is how high the value is after 120 seconds.

I just read an article that says that only 3 cores on the iPad can be used at once so that would, if accurate, mean that the device can be used with 3 fast cores active or 3 slow cores active, but not any more than 3 cores in use at any one time.

Can you please explain what exactly you are measuring ? NPS of what ? SF ? How was it compiled ? Did you make an ARMv8-a compile (64-bit) ? Does it use hardware popcnt ? How do you measure NPS? Multi-threaded bench is very noisy. Do you run several bench with N threads and average them ?

Using droidfish on android or on iOS Stockfish , or on other operation systems a similar version of Stockfish,
With all cores on.
Measure after 2 minutes . NPS That is shown after 2 minutes.

64 bit operation systems shall use 64 bit engines.
Beginning position in analysis mode.
Wait 2 minutes until you measure.
Make hardcopy of screen as evidence.

Do not change hash size etc.
Only amount of cores as high as possible on that machine.

Delete all apps running in the background before you measure. Use a cool hardware because heat throttles it down.

Unless you compiled SF yourself and tweaked the Makefile accordingly, I don't think you're using a 64-bit SF. The problem is that SF's official compiles are 32-bit ARMv7.
