Think I agree with the above. Homeprep makes a difference and Aronian won that battle, and its conversion. Kudos to him, even if there were, objecitvely, better moves. Human chess is also about knowing your customer. :wink:

too many lines to consider, you can never consider them all.

with simple positions, it is easy, but with similar complex positions, a single deeper line can refute everything.

from the starting position, you might have 1 billion drawing lines, but a single winning line might refute it all.

my conclusion is it is draw with perfect play, as I am seeing almost exclusively drawn outcomes, but you never know.

similarly about c5 and the rest of moves.

we, humans, are simply too weak, and our current top chess engines are also too weak, to claim anything with absolute certainty in more complex positions.

Carlsen is in the habit to always fall into some traps, whenever a WCC comes closer... :)

maybe this is part of his WCC tactics.

btw., when is the next WCC scheduled for?
