That is from Uri's thread http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=64095 I tested several search versions with small variations, not so deep that I'm certain 100% but probably it is a Mate in 14. Which Stockfish can easily verify I think, or you can backwards check some of the variations.

This was the default version of Stockfish I think, bench of _001 is

I have not used that search function, I just go to the official development repository https://github.com/official-stockfish/Stockfish
then I click on 'commits' and then it is just a case of scrolling down to the desired date :) Possibly you could get there easier somehow if the date is far down, but I'm not sure. Probably the Stockfish code is one of the most elaborate projects there. I do believe I checked the bench number briefly and this was still the original bench of that date. Every commit that is a functional change will have its own benchnumber. You can download the complete Stockfish codebase (as a .zip file) for any of those commits, if you want to.

For comparing different Stockfish codes (outside of GitHub) I use WinMerge https://sourceforge.net/projects/winmerge/ It is free, it seems not very actively maintained anymore, this version is dated 2013 so maybe there are other options, but for just comparing code it is good enough for me.
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first

No, this is just the code. But there are the executables on http://abrok.eu/stockfish/ of course, even though they are not the fastest. Sorted in much the same way.
It is easy enough to "roll your own" (Probably nobody says that anymore.) Once you've dowloaded and unpacked sources you want, even on Windows.

with 7 pawns and 62 ply search stockfish could only find a mate in 13.
