Re: Sting SF 8.5
Thank you very much Marek.
btw. the issues with V8 / V8.1 (no correct number of cores used/displayed) was i used it
in NO-Admin mode. (Win7 Pro)
http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopi ... ht=#714490
With comp started in Admin-Modus all cores are correct displayed.
Reason is maybe Win 7 Pro, my older comp is Win 7 Home and i've never had such issues with them.
So everything is good.

Re: Sting SF 8.5
A few words about the new Sting version.
I had to do it immediatelly, one thing worked wrong.
Sting is not a mate finder except the only one way to win.
Sting doesn't have a special knowladge, and will try to return the best moves only, not a "correct score".
Of course, to avoid some old problems my project should be moved to a higher version of SF.

Re: Sting SF 8.5
In my work I selected some special positions and before I publish a new version of Sting I test all.
For a speed 1 milion nodes/sec. each example should be solved in less than 30 minutes.
It means that if your machine is able to reach 10 milion nodes/sec. it may take only 1 minute max.
If your engine can do it you may start to solve much more difficult posions.

Peter Martan?
The fist one after
1... Rxg5 2. Nf7+ Kg8 3. Nxg5 is a 7some -#31,
the second one after
1... Qxh7+ 2. Kxh7 Kxg5 a -#38, but
your continuation 3.Bc5 Kxf6? is a drawn 6some, after 3.Bc5 Kh5 would be correct
Peter.

Re: Sting SF 8.5
I think it is not a good place to determine: how many moves to mate.
My collection is too valuable.
Please respect my many years work!
The collection contains positions with all possible problems and if anyone want to go the same way, it can help much.

Maybe, I can't be friendly, but let me be useful.

Re: Sting SF 8.5
Really sorry to upset you, Marek, that wasn't my intention at all, but as a matter of fact, I wouldn't have thought you'd mind me answering Herbert's question for the 7some positions at all neither.
Anyhow it doesn't show any disrespect for your fine collection from my side, and then again, how could it?
Knowing the Lomonosov- tablebases according to a position down the lines makes the solutions clearer, not more doubtful, don't you think so too?
BTW thanks again once in a while for your great work with Sting, which I admire and use much
