a) there's a problem with the corresponding 5-men TBs or
b) there's a problem with the engines probing them or
c) there's a problem with what the engines do with the data they get from the TBs
Nevertheless you may have a point there, even if it's not for the reasons you believe.
Two more games. Everything as before except for
- 6-men Syzygy
- move limit extended from 120 to 150 plies
- TC extended to 5h+30s to provide for the same 5min/move average as before

Both games ended without a decisive result despite the extended move limit. Draw? I did a playoff for the final position of the first one - same settings except TC=4h+30m and no move limit

Perhaps Lyudmil could play through all of the 210 moves and tell us where the engines or TBs went wrong?
-playing g6-g5 for black is a major mistake, after which the ending is probably already not winnable; with white pawn on g4 and white knight on d4, the f5 square is controlled twice by pieces of lower power, so f7 black pawn remains pemanently backward and black is devoid of attacking chances on the king side; in order for black to win this, it should play f7-f5 instead, like in your previous 2 games
- this is basically a roll of dice; with couple of games, everything can happen, no matter the TC, you might have draw at 5 min., then black win at 1 hour, draw at 5 hrs., and black win at 3 days for the game again; similarly, a one-threaded engine can frequently pick better moves than even 32-threaded one, less frequently, but still frequently enough
my short TC tests give 70% + black wins, but this is not very much reliable too.
the black structure is simply winning in terms of eval: that is what I believe.
- backward b2 white pawn
- pawn majority for black on the queen side
those are 2 very important features that should swing the balance in favour of black.
the general rule should be that the weaker side is able to hold, only if it it does not have any additional weaknesses apart from the material deficit, and here white has 2.
same position with no backward pawn and no pawn majorities is equal, for example.
but those are just my crazy old definitions, of course no one believes in them.
also, too many pawns still left cumulatively, 12 in all, with smaller number of pawns drawing chances increase.
I suggest, for the next run, whoever does it, buying a 64-core, and letting the engines calculate for a month or so.
control. The 76-mover game, 210-mover, and another 76.
Looks like a convincing draw there.
No zugzwang, black could probably win if there was,
but white has a lot of space. Mobility for rook, centralized N and space for King seems to be at max and can do anything they want.
Looks like black cannot break whites fortress.
regards
did you also peek at the 2 other VLTC games, both won by black?
I wonder why this time engines chose Qd1 as first move, while Qc1, keeping f4 square under aim, and b2 pawn as well, is much more natural and strong.
I am 90% certain black wins this.
