that is just a possible position.

you can reach similar one, but with black h and g pawns vs white h and g pawns, or white h and f pawns.

or alternatively, with added queens.

no one knows what those are.

I did not claim this was necessarily a draw, maybe it is, I am not certain and did not check it, my point was only to illustrate the tough struggle ahead and drawing possibilities.

both engines seem to like 24.Bc7, but the best move is the exchange sacrifice 24.Rxd5! busting up black's position and wreaking havoc with threats to the black king with the white bishops and white queen.

a4 is a good find.

I did not see it, not my SF was so kind to point to it.

after a forced line a4 ba4 ba4 Bd5 Qe8 Ba8 Ra8:

[d]r3q2k/5p1p/5P2/2p1B2Q/pb6/6P1/5P1P/3R2K1 w - - 0 6

we get here, which is most certainly a draw

so, probably, unless Andrew finds some improvement for white, the position is a draw, unless Bf4 is stronger and wins, which I don't very much believe.

probably, big white advantage, but still a draw, black just holding.

in the actual game, featuring 2400 elo players(was it correspondence?), black lost in some 6 moves or so...

seemingly, our forum is much better than those correspondence players.

it may be a draw, but if i'm reading that output right Bxd5 is preferred

anyone with 8-men?
the position is clearly won with latest dev-SF-McB apparently with Rd6, Rd1 an Rd2, Rd6 being shorter to a tablebase mate ( may not be a shorter mate).

Note - it's long drawn out affair with deep zugswang and it just misses a draw by the 50 move rule. I used the position cited - so based on moves prior to the position given, it could be a draw.

my line starts after Rd5 ed5 Rd1, and now a4 for black instead of d4 or something else.

I thought it was self-explanatory.

in one of the lines I get here:

[d]8/3R1pkp/5b2/5K2/5P2/8/7P/8 w - - 0 29

anyone with 8-men?
the position is clearly won with latest dev-SF-McB apparently with Rd6, Rd1 an Rd2, Rd6 being shorter to a tablebase mate ( may not be a shorter mate).

That is what Vincent was looking too if I'm not mistaken:
2) after 24.Rxd5 exd5 25.Rd1 a4, 2 best moves mode :
You said 26. bxa4 is forced, but John pointed out that 26. Bxd5 is Matefinder's alternative with a slightly higher score at that point (highest score sorted last, I think that is Arena). I have not analyzed any of the a4 lines.
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.
