Two blunders: Seventh move threw away all advantage, eighth move lost the game. Up to move seven, opening play was excellent by White. This handicap is almost unplayable against well-prepared opponent.

First blunder made the game equal, he would have loose even without the second one.lkaufman wrote:Two blunders: Seventh move threw away all advantage, eighth move lost the game. Up to move seven, opening play was excellent by White. This handicap is almost unplayable against well-prepared opponent.

Also so far, in positionnal advantage, no GM was well prepared enough to win any single game. But I guess in this one, they could win some games.

Re: Revised chess.com handicap match
Another quick loss, although this time his mistakes weren't as obvious as in the previous game. It seems these handicaps are GM-level handicaps; for a typical IM like Danny we probably should try knight for pawn.

Re: Revised chess.com handicap match
3. d5 would have shut out black's entire queenside long enough for white to consolidate.lkaufman wrote:Another quick loss, although this time his mistakes weren't as obvious as in the previous game.
The whole Nf3-d4-b3-d4-c6 maneuver just made Black's light-squared bishop extremely powerful while neglecting development - the position after 11...Rb8 looks like it came from some weird gambit where Black has sacrificed two pawns for all these tempi.
I'd like to play 9. f3 followed by 10. e4 (what White should have been strategically aiming for), but the tactics are admittedly too scary-looking (9. Qc2 looks good instead). 6. f3 would have been the safe time to play it. White gets a Maroczy bind (or at least a solid center if 6...d5) and Black lacks the pawns to contest it.

I thought I was the person on the planet making the most mistakes against engines, but it is difficult or impossible to rival Rensch.
he will write a good article for chess.com, though.
PS. see how in all computer-human games, the human starts playing considerably worse and less energetic with each subsequent game.

one can not play chess, when one comments online at the same time, that is more than clear.
I guess, if he was entirely concentrated on the game, he would play much better.
some people use just 1% of their concentration on the board, I use 100%.

Re: Revised chess.com handicap match
Some of the best results by GMs vs Komodo (drawn matches by Hess and Williams) have been self-commented, so I don't think we can make a general statement that they play worse with the extra 15" per move when self-commenting. But I agree that this was the case this time.Lyudmil Tsvetkov wrote:that is already hilarious.lkaufman wrote:Another quick loss, although this time his mistakes weren't as obvious as in the previous game.
