Wikipedia article say BB vs N endgame is a semi-fortress.
The way i associates a semi-fortress is as follows -> may require pinpoint accuracy to win.
Do you classify following positions as semi-fortress.
[d]2K5/8/2p1k3/3b4/Q1p1n3/4P3/1P6/8 w - - 0 20
[d]1QK5/8/2p1kn2/3b4/2p5/4P3/8/8 w - - 0 18

Re: What does semi-fortress mean?
I guess the semi-fortress is not a true fortress but a fortress-like position which can be eventually broken (a "pseudo-fortress").
Sometimes, when the fortress collapses, the weaker side tries to rebuild another one elsewhere.
In the BB/N ending if a fortress with Nb2 is broken, the weaker side can be stopped to rebuild it elsewhere (with Ng2, Nb7, or Ng7).
In NN/Q the fortresses have some dynamism and they are constantly destroyed and rebuilt resulting in a draw.
Even a simple endgame like Q/R features semi-fortresses. There are the fourth-rank, third-rank, second-rank defences and finally the Philidor position which one by one must be broken.
