what is your impression about Opening Book Converter http://goneill.co.nz/chess.php ? Does it correctly work witha .abk/.bin-format ?
Arena openings books are here available:

Can Arena books (.abk) now be used without problems into other graphical interfaces e.g. WinBoard http://hgm.nubati.net/WinBoard-AA.zip - ChessGUI http://www.chess.hylogic.de/ - ScidvsPC/Mac http://scidvspc.sourceforge.net/ - PyChess http://pychess.org/about/ ?

I converted three .bin books to .abk, and it seemed to work. Another, fourth big book was a failure, but the problem is explained in the readme file. So far, so good.
.abk to .bin should work better.
