Forgot to mention (from TCEC gui):

When there is an engine/engine contest, show the first place the pv's disagree. TCEC uses an @ sign by default, but you can also configure it to use color.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

I also like the graphs for depth/time/speed/tb hits.
Those are almost not present in all GUIs I know.

This is still horrible, but probably due to the considerable number of Winboard engines requiring this kind of stuff. Which probably is also what got the protocol its bad name.

Example of sloppy GUI design. WB1 and UCI are mutually exclusive, at least from a settings point of view, and you don't use checkboxes, but radio buttons. That's GUI 101.

GUI and features

Post by Ferdy »

Created an initial google sheet listing guis and its features and estimated rating from 0 to 10 where 10 is best.

If you are interested and want to edit the sheet (add features, estimate rating of features, add other gui's, etc), PM or post here, I will send the link via PM, where you can edit the sheet.

Here is the page and some entries so far.

But unfortunately the program cutechess disappoints me. Trouble with TBs does not appear when using some chess engines and there is no Swiss tournament.

What is horrible?
adjective
1. causing or tending to cause horror; shockingly dreadful:
2. extremely unpleasant; deplorable; disgusting:

Wow :!: :!:
All you have to do is press the button and locate the engine file. What is your problem

Note that I am answering to the post that seems to me not good.
hand-type engine paths etc. like Winboard does
And here your are saying pressing the button is horrible

Will you tell us how to install an engine according to your GUI?
