Ryzen 7 Computer
Sorry if this sounds like a commercial. I just want fellow computer chess fans to know this. I was walking around Costco today and they had a Ryzen 7 setup on sale for $600. I would have bought one but the timing for me is not right.

Unlike Intel CPUs, leaving Hyperthreading On and using all Threads for the Chess Engine is beneficial on the Ryzen.
At least, that's my opinion so far, as far as Houdini 6 is concerned.

By the way, checked out Houdini 6 on my Intel System too.
HT On, using all 16 Threads, is definitely NOT a good idea on Intel Systems.
So one more reason to invest in an AMD System, at least for chess.

Looks like $1600, not $600, https://www.costco.com/CatalogSearch?de ... ageSize=96Leo wrote:Sorry if this sounds like a commercial. I just want fellow computer chess fans to know this. Re: Ryzen 7 Computer
HT On or not, using Houdini 6, I seem to be getting better Results overall with my Ryzen System compared to my Intel Sytem, even though NPS is slightly higher on the Intel System.
Odd.
Houdini seems to really like Ryzen.

Re: Ryzen 7 Computer
I read somewhere that the $599 box in question has a 300 watt power supply. If true, that might make overclocking difficult.
Still, a heck of a deal.

Re: Ryzen 7 Computer
Funny ! Do they still make them ?300 watt power supply
I use Corsair 1200 W PSU for my Intel System and Corsair 1000 W PSU for the Ryzen 1800X.
