Fritz in Android

Post by Kempelen »

Chessbase is moving piece in Android. I few days back there has been Fritz published in google play store, but now it looks as it has been retired. It was at 5.99 €.
Here are some screenshots:

Were any able to download it and test it? what could be the reason to retire it...?

Google has just announced that they will remove apps that use the additional functions for impaired people without actually delivering benefits to them.

See here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/11/12 ... led-users/

However, there are also quite some other (legitimate) apps that use these APIs. Maybe Fritz is among them.

It will allow you to use other engines installed on your android device.

Komodo
Chiron
Stockfish
BikJump
Gaviota
Cinnamon
DiscoCheck
Deep Fritz 14 & 15

Does Fritz differentiate from Chessbase app. Also i'm wondering if you can use stockfish development versions.

Only in that you can play against the engine. No engine vs. engine in this interface. It is similar to Chessbase in that in both you can analyze games. Not sure about development versions, but I think the answer is no.

The best application for this droidfish. It allows using any android engines. And for the game between the engines, the best application is Chess Tournament (it is in the market). I test the engines in it (I port them to the android).

In this application is not Deep Fritz 15, but Ginkgo 2.0. I have extracted the engine from the application and installed it in Chess For Android and in the settings it shows that the author of the engine is Frank Schneider, the author of Ginkgo. They in the source code of Ginkgo changed the name of the engine to Deep Fritz 15.Tests dispelled doubts, this engine plays on equal terms with Andascacs-0.921.
