WChess 1.06 beats Komodo with beautiful technique!

Post by BrendanJNorman »

..well...

It's only Komodo 1.0, but a 2330 engine making a 2900 engine look silly in the endgame, despite being heavily out searched it so impressive.

I've always loved WChess and even drew a 45 45 game as black against it which I should have won (had a won rook ending but didn't trust myself) once.

Here's his beautiful technical win over Komodo.

Komodo misjudges a tactical sequence and WChess responds by going into an exchange down, knight and pawns vs rooks ending in which his technique is impressive.

I have to say that Dave Kittinger was really a talented guy, and I wish more of his work was available as UCI.

If anybody would like WChess 1.06 (its tough to find sometimes), let me know and I'll hook up up.

Dave sure was a talented programmer. I always loved WChess's tactical & it's endgame technique was unique yet strong so it did not surprise me that it beat another program in an endgame.

Hi Brendan

I have a copy of WChess2K (WChess2000) that runs perfectly under ChessGenius Classic which is stronger than WChess 1.6

Hi Brendan,

a great program ... with Kallisto, Zarkov one of my favorite older chess programs. Nice combination allways possible ... of course vs. clearly stronger engines too.

:-)

Best
