If you only have the information of the moves played in the above link is there an easy way (tool) to find the players?

Re: Question.
Hello Ed:
http://chessok.com/?page_id=352
Which is an online database of games. I see some drawbacks to this database:
1.- It is online, so it is not suitable for offline use. If ChessOK goes down, there is no database anymore.
2.- It is manual, so you must go through the game move by move.
3.- It could not be complete sometimes (probably games until some point in 2009).
It looks like this right now:
That is, around 3.75 million games (3,752,468). GE should mean 'game end' or something similar.
I went through the game you posted and it says:
1-0, Alekhine Alexander A (RUS) - Keres Paul (EST), Munich (Germany), 1942
Here is the link of the game at ChessGames:
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1013485
I also went through the first game of the WCC 2010 (Topalov 1-0 Anand) and it is not in that database. There might be other free online databases up to date.
Regards from Spain.

I think the database above has the same (and more features) and is always up to date. I recommended it on the website of my chess club.

Correct, it's too simple. How about the following two.

Hi Ed, I was able to search it too via setup of final position in Scid DB.Rebel wrote:Correct, it's too simple. How about the following two.

I loaded your MillionBase, thanks to your posted link here., then clicked the Search Menu > Current Board... (or Ctrl+Shift+B),
and within 4 seconds the complete details of the game is displayed.
More than one way to skin a cat.

I just looked it up.mjlef wrote:Why would anyone want to skin a cat?
Apparently, the original phrase was "there are more ways to kill a dog than hanging", then it became a cat choked to death with cream...
So, you would want to skin a cat because you'd rather do that than hanging a dog.
