FEOBOS v20.1 Contempt = 3, 40 in 40 test-tourney, 22 eng.

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

if you have interest to follow:
http://www.amateurschach.de/ftptrigger/ ... est-1.html

Just a test-tourney (FEOBOS 20.1 Contempt 3 test) without our TOP-5 only!
Not a big deal or new rating list but I will see what's happend.

Elo average = 2.900 after CEGT 40 / 20 ratinglist.
From Spark 1.0 with 2750 undo best engine Fizbo 2.0 with 3150 = 400 Elo difference.

Conditions:
- FEOBOS v20.1 with Contempt = 3
- 40 moves in 40 minutes repeadedly
- ponder = off
- resign / offer draw = on
- 1.024 for hash
- 4-pieces endgame bases
- 1 core on Intel Core i7-5930k, 4.3Ghz
- Windows 10 Prof.

22 of TOP 6-30 engines, 4 rounds = 924 games!

Best
Frank

For the moment on 6 cores.
On weekend on 10 cores with a second system.

Go Senpai go ...
Go Wasp go ...

Hi there,

tourney restarted!?
I had two mistakes in my configuration and a setting was not good. Restarted with 4 stronger engines (Hannibal, Fritz, Booot and ice replaced Hiarcs, Junior, Spark and Cheng). Elo average now 2.950 for the 22 participant engines.

Sorry!

Re: Bobcat replaced with Ethereal

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

I have here some problems with Bobcat and replaced the engine with Ethereal 9.00 x64.

After 200 games, shortest draw game = 24 moves (contempt 3 is working great).

A game Arasan vs. Fritz I have to replay (after 300 moves Shredder GUI stopped the game, such games are replayed directly).

Re: FEOBOS v20.1 Contempt = 3, Test-2 with TOP21 + Wasp

Post by Frank Quisinsky »

Hi there,

and now the FEOBOS v20.1 Contempt = 3 Test-Tourney 2 is still running. I switched 9 engines.

Not the TOP-21 + Wasp 2.60 in a tourney.
Same conditions.

Link can be found on my website (directly on start page).

FEOBOS 20.1 works perfect in Test-1 tourney.
1 / 964 games with draw below 20 moves.
Have a look in the database ...

Yes, very nice what FEOBOS 20.1 is doing.
That's what I like to have so many years, now I have it.

Hi Frank

Well, I always thought practice is whats FEOBOS was missing all the time. Thas why its great that there are tournaments now with that book.

the last 110 games from my QuoVadis tournament I have used Feobos c3 book.
A few games were draw arround 20 moves. Some possitions out from book look hard to play, (maybe even lost on top engine level).
here is the ECO variety I got with the recommended book setting:

Code: Select all

Games : 110 (finished)

White Wins : 16 (14.5 %)
Black Wins : 5 ( 4.5 %)
Draws : 89 (80.9 %)
Unfinished : 0

White Perf. : 55.0 %
Black Perf. : 45.0 %

ECO A = 53 Games (48.2 %)
ECO B = 26 Games (23.6 %)
ECO C = 15 Games (13.6 %)
ECO D = 7 Games ( 6.4 %)
ECO E = 9 Games ( 8.2 %)

I would like it if it plays more balanced between ECO A - E, but maybe I just have played not enough games.
How is the ECO variety on your tournament?

Have a nice day

C.K.

Hi Clemens,

3 moves after ECO Codes formed.
Often ECO formed after 1 move.

So min. 4 moves ... in one of 500 cases.
More often the FEOBOS book goes to 5 moves.

That is very hard to avoid draw below 20 moves for such ECO codes.

Most games ... draw below 20 moves comes from such openings. Openings formed with 6-11 moves, normally very rarely that we produced games draw below 20 moves.

I don't know what is to do.

If I added more as 4-5 moves for such ECO codes in the book we have from such ECO codes to many lines and the book is playing such lines, ECO Code formed to fast, very often. Can't be right!!

Once good idea is to collect the lines and to delete it from hand in the book, or to search in the FEOBOS database the lines and delete it by hand.

That's the deal ... to each of the lines in the six FEOBOS books we have the *.epd and *.pgn. To delete lines fom the book is very easy.

No better idea at this time!

I have collect at the moment 4 lines.
Three from test-tourneys (2.600 games) and from test-1 tourney one line after 964 games. Not more at the moment.

Results are fantastic but situation (what is to do with the lines) complicated. Often I am thinking it's bad to delete the lines from the book because in other eng-eng constellations no problems with produced a fast draw with same lines.

So, after my test we have around 0.3% of lines, produced a fast draw below under 20 moves. I will see the opening book with such a statistic. And to replay the 0.3% is no problem!

Best
Frank

PS: It would nice to have your material or material from others with short draw lines below 20 moves.

Hi Clemens,

a tester wrote in TalkChess that he produced more thausends games with FEOBOS v20.1 and the book have lesser draws below 20 moves as others. Should be right because no other book have such an optimation FEOBOS have.

Prio 1 for FEOBOS: Balanced lines (works perfect)
Prio 2 for FEOBOS. No bad lines (to 99,9% after 10 engines are search each of the book lines).
Prio 3 for FEOBOS: All 500 ECO codes should be play (works perfect)
Prio 4 for FEOBOS: All 500 ECO with here own possibilities. An ECO Code is more often if more lines in the book ... logical, works perfekt with the GUIs we have.

Prio 5: Avoid fast draw below 20 moves.
I think better stats as 0.3% for eng-eng we can produced only if we delete such lines from the FEOBOS book by hand.

Frank

PRIO 1-4 is more important for a good eng-eng test. To have maybe 250 of the ECO codes for engines testing can't be right and is boring.
