Why are these mediafire exe's being posted here?

The official client, including source, is here:
https://github.com/glinscott/leela-chess/releases

Am I missing something?

I am not sure if his download is simply a packaged up version of the following instructions,

Because someone is generous to add Batch files that allowed me to run it even without thinking.

Yes, you are missing a lot. On the github repo you can find the client.exe, but not the compiled engine (which you can get here: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/glinsco ... nch/master) and you will also not find the required .dll files, nor the ready-to-click batch files.

Project is still in the early stages and things are not yet that clear/easy.

I have one of those. I also have an older Quadro 5000 but it's not as powerful.
A 1060 is more than enough. Actually, any videocard is good. Every single bit adds to the total.

The documentation will be improved and a basic 'download' package assembled. I wrote Gary about this and am available to edit the text -- if there is a typical method for doing such editing through github someone please mention what it is. (I see documentation edits appear as 'pull requests' but I don't understand how pulling something results in that something being edited).

In your 7z files, please consider including a readme file which shows the sources of your files. For example, saying :
lczero.exe binary came from (confirmed with checksum):
https://ci.appveyor.com/project/glinsco ... /artifacts

client.exe is from https://github.com/glinscott/leela-ches ... client.exe

etc.

Where is the file 'network' from, here http://lczero.org/networks ?

Yes, I don't remember if it's gen 8 or gen 9 on that package, but it's the same file, renamed.

Can it run on AMD cards or does it require Nvidia?
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.
