Standing after 49 rounds

1. [Stockfish 100218] 34.0/49 (743.00)
2. [Houdini 6.03] 32.5/49 (727.75)
3. [Komodo 2012.00] 29.0/49 (661.75)
4. [Fire 020718] 26.0/49 (578.50)
5. [Chiron 110218] 22.5/49 (492.25)
6. [Andscacs 0.93] 22.0/49 (497.25)
7. [Fizbo 2] 19.0/49 (421.00)
8. [Ginkgo 2.03] 11.0/49 (281.00)
Too bad only the top 2 engines go on to the superfinal.
I would like to see 4 then 2.
The differences look significant until you look at the head to head results, which are extremely close. It may be that (for instance) the SF tweaking of contempt allows for far less cautious play against much weaker engines giving more points. But this may or may not lead to better play against the top engines (only Houdini has no losses). Against the high-end competition, K and SF have similar records. The no losses for H is likely just a probability anomaly. Not enough games to make an accurate statement.
I get the perception that Fire is not as strong against the top 3 but there are not really enough games for that. Too bad Shredder won't play.
There won't be much of a superfinal. The latest Stockfish is disgustingly strong. Stockfish development is alive again. This will be a very easy superfinal for Stockfish. Frankly, Komodo did not belong in the last superfinal. It barely squeezed its way through. "Drawfish" aka Stockfish with contempt 0 has been solved leaving its only real weakness in these tournaments left in the dust.

Andscacs win over Komodo was stunning: it won rook/pawn ending without tablebases! Just after somebody wrote in chat: Andscacs can't beat top 3 engines without tb :) .

You have to face the truth. Komodo is just weak. A new version has just been released and unfortunately it is still a poor program. And for what people pay 100 $.

In general, we can see a difference of more than two points between any position and the position just below it. Follow live games in http://tcec.chessdom.com/live.php
