Guys, you're spending money money to make engine stronger... this is very cool but WHY?
I really very tempted to know what motivates you for doing that?
A man's got to have a hobby.

Re: Training positions from gm2600 pgn

Hello Vladimir, Thank you! I plan to release soon a new version with better learning capabilities. For example, coordinate descent is replaced with stochastic gradient descent, which is orders of magnitude faster. Also some sort of TD-learning after each game is implemented. However, it doesn't work...

Oh, I thought they still use HCE  Thanks for the info ! :D :D
In Igel I have not yet gained a lot of elo due to RL (perhaps 1-5 elo but I spent big amount of time/money on data generation), so I keep training on HCE until I reach it's limits before switching to NNUE data generation.

Re: Introducing Igel chess engine

I finished my regression testing between Igel and top 10 engines, the results are quite interesting. This time I used a short time control (20s and 0.2s increment) with many games to make sure elo estimate is accurate. In this time control the elo gain of Igel 2.9.0 is around 95 elo over 2.8.0 which...
