Re: Chess engine in braifuck

Wouldn't it be best to just write an interpreter for a somewhat higher-level languange in brainfuck, and then write the Chess program in that? It seems to me that writing directly in brainfuck you would basically be unrolling the interpreter loop zillions of times, leading to excessive boiler-plate...

Re: Chess engine in braifuck

Hi guys, we are starting a new crazy project - chess program in brainfuck programming language. Brainfuck is probably the most challenging language to choose to write a chess program in, but nevertheless we want to try. As far as hardware implementation of brainfuck CPU exists that means that in th...

Re: Playing transposition table moves in the Quiescence search

Would not quiet moves explode and make the position noisy? Daniel Jose Queralto (Andscacs) suggested a complete QS cutoff at depth of -6. Current tests on my engine demonstrate an elo loss with any QS depth cutoff. The exchange combinations are necessary. There are SEE methods that try to reduce th...

Re: fast(er) movegen

Afterthought: The latest Embla version I have is version 1.0.1. I ran a perft 6 with Embla and it took Embla 107.3 seconds to finish. That is 128 times slower than rofChade. I don't know how far the perft routines are comparable and if the current version takes the same amount of time, but maybe th...

Re: Embla 2.0.5 released

Gabor,

Do you require a special release that emits no logging at all?
I just realised it is not much work for me to create such a version so let me know if...

Re: Embla 2.0.5 released

Hi Folkert, It seems you have removed syzygy support. Why is that? Because it doesn't help Embla. I tested it and it played worse by them on average. FYI, I still cannot delete the log files created by version 1.0.3 a couple of months ago. Even administratory rights don't allow that. It seems it ca...
