Re: ChessBase database annoyance: extracting an opening book

I first clean the pgn before making bin books by importing and exporting in SCID. Its much faster than cleaning the games with pgn-extract and the result is good.

Re: Convert old Chessmaster obk books to pgn with informant symbols.

I just find out that the problem is not with obk2pgn but with the MakeBook tool. The problem is with the created obk books. There are no underpromotions in the obk books (the pawn always promote to a Queen), even if the obk books are created with pgn games with underpromotions. The same problem when...

Re: Convert old Chessmaster obk books to pgn with informant symbols.

The 'Chessmaster-80.exe' file needs to be placed in the installation directory from Chessmaster 9000. John Merlino made a modified Chessmaster-80.exe file. To be able to make books and navigate books up to 80 plies, within Chessmaster 9000. You just have to copy it to the install directory of Chessm...

Convert old Chessmaster obk books to pgn with informant symbols.

Can someone help with this problem please. John Merlino made a new obk book making tool (MakeBook_v3.20), where you can set different percentages for the book weights (the three dot's). When making an obk book and choosing the option 'weights by frequency', you can now specify how much percentage a ...

Re: Export bin book to pgn

When I have time I will add an fclose(f) to the dumb_book routine, to see if that helps. The "not enough space" problem could be due to running a 32-bit version, which limits memory allocation to under 1GB. A 64-bit compile would not have that problem, and this is probably what the 'tolerant' refer...

Re: Export bin book to pgn

I am not sure what 'Polyglot-tolerant' is. But did the standard Polyglot option 'dump-book' with a -color argument not work for you? Yes that is the option I use with polyglot-tolerant, 'dump-book' with a -color argument. I downloaded polyglot-tolerant from here: https://chess.massimilianogoi.com/d...

Re: Export bin book to pgn

I find an alternative way to convert bin books to pgn. With polyglot-tolerant there is an option to dump a bin book. This creates a text file like 'book_black.text' If you change this extension to pgn, you can open this pgn with the software ChessX. And in ChessX, you can export this pgn database to...

Re: Best depth for blunder checking repertoire games.

Thanks for the recommendation. If I blunder check a bin book with poly 1.7a, I only have the option depth, and an option max in milliseconds. I can blundercheck by repertoires with Scid vs Pc, and use min seconds per move there. Wat would be a reasonable setting for min seconds per move? If I want t...

Best depth for blunder checking repertoire games.

I remember watching some YouTube video a long time ago. Where Steve Lopez from Chessbase explained what engine settings are best to use for blunder checking you white repertoire, and what engine settings are best to use for blunder checking your black repertoire. I remember he was saying that you be...
