What I can't understand is why certain engines are stubborn with a single answer instead of going deeper with other alternatives, since with each increase in depth the score remains the same or decreases. It practically overlooks the other moves.

The objective is to get the pawn to become queen while preventing the knight from taking it. This is how my engine handled it in less than 1 second! Some arbitrarily chose position is not suitable do decide about an engine is good or not. In the evaluation of every engine there are "dark stains". So only engine-engine matches can show the real power of engines. Capablanca was a genius for playing game endings and was also a Chess World Champion...
