Re: Four (1,2,3,4) fixed ply games against SF12

Every once in a while I play SF a serious game to see if I can still play chess. My record over the years is 4 losses and 4 draws. And in queen knight odds playing black my record is 1 win and 2 draws. I gave up after SF10 came out because it just seemed to be a losing battle. Today I wanted to see...

Re: Four (1,2,3,4) fixed ply games against SF12

Fixed depth 5 was a draw. At fixed depth 6 I lost 3 in a row. I need to dig a little bit deeper at 6 ply. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow. If I can not get it done with the black pieces I'll try with the white pieces. [Event "Computer chess game"] [Site "DESKTOP-HFVHK2B"] [Date "2020.11.26"] [Round "?...

Re: Four (1,2,3,4) fixed ply games against SF12

Great to see that someone else is actually playing these machines as well! Did you use an opening book or „just“ pure Stockfisch? I‘ll try it with limit depth as well, but doubt I’ll even beat 1. It used a book, Perfect_2010.abk. Good luck! Has anyone rated SF12 at each fixed ply level? That would ...

Tony was Romi's only beta tester. I made progress when he was thoroughly testing every beta I through at him. I stopped making progress when he stopped testing. I wish him a good journey in the afterlife!

Re: New AMD Zen 3 and Ryzen processors

So... any word on the implementation of BMI2, PEXT and PDEP? If it's still as bad as Ryzen 2, these CPU's are out of the question for me. (Also, they are built on an old platform when using AM4; just like Intel 10-xx CPU's built on the X299 platform from 2017.) I was doing some thinking on why AMD ...
