Re: Syzygy tablebases for Stockfish, how/where?

Okay, I next tested with this which was just made up: 1nn5/nk6/8/3K4/8/8/8/5NBR w - - A quick search gave this in Stockfish 1. Rh7+ Ka8 2. Bxa7 Nxa7 + (153.20) Depth=62/43 TB=7308849 0:00:22 174 MN My question is I have seen 153.20 frequently with Stockfish analysis. What does that number mean? Also...

Re: Syzygy tablebases for Stockfish, how/where?

Yes it does - thanks. It goes to zero immediately on 1n6/nk6/8/3K4/8/8/8/2Q5 w - - although the search continues. TB=28 is the final number and it does eventually stop This is Stockfish but things appear to be working fine. Thanks. At least for this 3-piece endgame. I should test a 6-piece endgame t...

Re: piece lists advantage with bit-boards?

I spent quite a bit of time converting to a full bitboard program. Talish is full bitboard for both move generation and position evaluation. It's much easier to work with. Bob and I worked together at the time Crafty and Talish came into being. However, nowadays I am in AWE of the Open Source Commun...

Re: a test for tablebases efficacy

Thanks. I have my tablebases under this: ~/chess/Syzygy/ in three directories: dtz syzygy wdl When I used Stockfish / Preferences and chose ~/chess/Syzygy/ it now shows in the search TB=xxxxxxxxx and the xxxxxxx number is changing. So I have two questions. One is what does the xxxxxx number mean and...

Re: Syzygy tablebases for Stockfish, how/where?

They're all in now and I am trusting the 3/4/5/6 all work.

Not sure how to test it tho.

a test for tablebases efficacy

Hi,

Anyone have some good positions to test tablebases (syzygy) in stockfish?

Now that my 3/4/5/6 man tables are all in, I want to test them.

Anyone have a set of problems which are solvable only with tablebases?

They're almost in. I let them run while I was at work. They'll finish up overnight.

Re: short game causing Stockfish 10 to be unable to load

Obviously blind. Longstanding bug in my program where it did not check the legality of the move played by the human after entry at the main command loop.

Checks in search were correct.

Fixed and move on.
