Re: WCCC 2019 Macau..

You cannot beat anyone. You cannot even compete. You have not written any engine, and you would not even do how to do it. I could if I wanted (my first effort was stronger than Ruffian 1.0.5, wasn't that stronger than your Joker?) But if I did it with an engine that wasn't stronger than Stockfish, ...

Re: buying a new computer

I think to buy a new computer and I wonder what is the elo of stockfish and lc0 for different prices of hardware. Is there a table for comparison that give price and elo estimate for both? Me too - but you want to wait for this to come out in the fall.. https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/13495867...

Re: Ferret 1.00 v258 - program from 1995

Bruce was working with Convetka to make a commercial version. The project never got completed. Yes, it was somewhere between Fritz 5 and Fritz 6 strength, the two kings of the time. Like them, it was an incredibly fast engine that compensated many of its positional flaws by simply outcalculating it...

Re: Summer time - how does your PC cooling solution perform?

As the title says, it is summer time in the northern sphere, so can you still run your gear under full load with temperatures >30°C? Wonder how dual GPU setups are doing... -- Srdja PS: srdja@ubuntu:~$ top top - 21:44:48 up 14:13, 1 user, load average: 0,45, 0,41, 0,22 Tasks: 248 total, 1 running, ...

Re: Leela Nets for Human Training and "Style"

While I can understand not repeating the position in a test suite, I would still include it. The reason is that the openings would be precisely where a player like Fischer would make the most thought out decisions. His predilection for the Ruy, for 1.e4, for the Najdorf are all a part of his style ...

Re: Alpha Zero vs. Leela Zero

If Leela had access to the same number of games for training as Alpha Zero did then would it be as strong as the Alpha Zero on comparable hardware (something that matches 4 tpu)? Leela has had far more in every one of its runs. The current Leela that played and defeated Stockfish in TCEC was traine...

Re: Leela Nets for Human Training and "Style"

One simple and automatic way is thru personality. Example Fischer, collect positions (with some criteria) where Fischer is to move, make it as a test suite where the bm in the epd is Fischer's move in the actual game, then measure the engine's performance by counting how many moves match the bm in ...

Re: SL vs RL

I found my little test MCTS SL program screwing up in game play because this sort of situation..., Black Q gives check. Check piece is en prise. King has some moves. Policy trained SL gave the king move evasions normal probabilities, 0.25, 0.12 sort of values. But the obvious Q capture (which would...

Re: Question for Nelson Hernandez - TCEC power consumption

Question: What is the precise power draw from the A/B machine and the NN machine in the current TCEC 15 Superfinal? We can calculate this value based on hardware specs, but I want to know based on actual measurements, such as with a Kill-A-Watt or similar. Even better, I'd like to see a power use g...
