Re: Capablanca's Theorem Q+N > Q+B

Likewise the queen + knight tend to work better than queen + bishop in the endgame because the queen + bishop duo can sometimes be redundant. Re: Debatable blitz rule

I agree that the superior side shouldn't necessarily be penalized for having more material. There are opinions in both directions but renewal of this rule is something i hope FIDE may look upon. In my view i think FIDE should draw the line at k + minor piece. Simply add clause if possible mate is r...

Debatable blitz rule

Should the rules be revised or perhaps the use of time increments of say 12 secs be used to ensure that people cannot win on time simply by moving their pieces around quickly? :? https://chess24.com/en/read/news/what-happened-in-carlsen-vs-firouzja I once had a drawn R+B v R endgame which was simply...

Re: I Played a Beautiful Game Yesterday...

Hi Brendan Here is your game with added variations, not sure if that is much use but it is sometimes beneficial to see where errors were made. Nice to see a Catalan - the last time I saw that opening was in the epic Karpov v Kasparov World Chess Championship 1984‎. [Event "Chess AllianceRanked game"...

Re: My local paper

Thanks for the game Ed. Analysis suggests that 26...gxf5? is an error and that Bd7 was required instead to hold the draw.

Re: Female chess players threaten boycott after being told t

They should all boycott the event and have it in the UK instead. Of course they will all be forced to wear bikinis instead here and pose individually for a calendar afterwards. This will help to make the game look more glamorous, boost sponsorship and prize money. :D https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg...
