Re: AVX2 optimized SF+NNUE and processor temperature

I do not like noisy water cooler. I can hardly hear my Corsair H115i water cooler. That's with my I9 7980XE running Stockfish AVX2 using 16 real cores ( hyperthreading off ). The cpu temperature doesn't get much above 50 C. My graphics card ( 2080 TI ) gets a bit hotter when running lc0 type engine...

Re: IN 100 games if SF reaches 51 in TCEC it should be stopped

AS could still win if SF has 3 crashes but it would be a hollow victory. If we recall, Stockfish had two crashes in the premier division but still finished in the top spot.

Looks like reports of the "end of an era" for AB have been greatly exaggerated.

Re: Houdini and Komodo Stoofvlees is coming to Div P

As you can see Stoofvlees is NOT using the mere GTX 980 Ti that CCRL used to test it, Sttofvlees is in the same stength category as Houdini and Komodo using the proper Hardware as it is used in TCEC True enough but it's also true that all engines in TCEC 16 will be using stronger hardware than that...

Re: Where are the funs of Leela?

Try a mind experiment. Take lc0 and sf and assume that on some hardware they are about the same strength. Outcome is easy to imagine. It's fifty-fifty on who will win a multi game contest. Now, try two sf verses lc0. To win the contest, lc0 must beat sf0 AND sf1. The word AND here is a magic helper...

Re: Where are the funs of Leela?

An 3000 ELO Engine will performe better against a older version of itself with 2990 ELO than against a different engine with 2990 ELO. Thus it is not a surprise that in this setup some Stockfish engines took the lead. Not sure if this explanation quite works when four out of the six Stockfish engin...

Re: Threadripper 1950x but StockFish 8 with low KN/s?

I remember reading that the 1950x has a game mode and a creator mode. To take advantage of all the cores you need to be in creator mode.

I've no idea if this is your problem but perhaps a possibility.

Re: AMD Threadripper 1950x

Average nps per thread

7900x 1.84 million

1950x 1.35 million

I know there may be some drop off in efficiency for more threads but I wouldn't have thought by that much.

So 4ghz Intel and 4ghz AMD cannot be equal.

Re: Houdini 5 dev in TCEC

It will be a big test for Houdini in the final playing against an engine that has gone, if I've worked it out correctly, 101 games without defeat. I wonder if that is a TCEC record? Even in some games where Stockfish seemed, at least to a human observer, to have a lost position, it somehow managed t...
