Re: Where are the funs of Leela?

Nobody is ever satisfied with the openings, even though competent people like Cato and Jeroen work on them. Every good chess player wants their favorite chess opening included. You will never satisfy everyone. Please reread the sentences you posted and see if they make sense in chess. They don't. T...

Re: max number of pseudo legal move

Logged Sapeli's maximum moves from standard games against Fairy: https://pastebin.com/HU2CQvZm 79 moves is the maximum currently. I think 128 is plenty for gameplay. For analyzing 256 is bullet proof. I will be surprised if 79 moves is the maximum for human games. There are many games between child...

Re: Draw or Black win?

win for black 8/8/4p1p1/7p/7P/PK4k1/8/8 w - - 0 4 This position is a loss for white based on the 7 piece tablebases and white has no good alternative to this position. How deep is the mate from here ? I do not know because the syzygy tablebases give distance from conversion and not distance from ma...

Re: Hash collision?

Puzzle. Suppose a search takes X nodes and the hashtable is 2^n in size. You would like to be 95% confident no two nodes have a hash collision. What’s the formula connecting X and n? More interesting question for me: What is the probability that an engine get a wrong mate score in tablebase positio...

Re: One idea to solve chess?

It can be useful if different evaluations are applied to different types of draws. The point is the score of a "true" draw can't be backtracked, as you don't know the "true" score of the rest of the moves, which would either all end in backtracked "true draws", or a mate in something, which is the ...

Re: One idea to solve chess?

I think that if you want to solve chess then you should try to solve. chess engines of today do not try to solve the game and when they say 0.00 people have no idea if they found a forced draw or simply found a line that they evaluate as equal. That’s easily dealt with. Use bit zero to distinguish ...

Re: Three fishes vs Leela

I do not understand the name leelafish. https://github.com/killerducky/lc0/wiki/LeelaFish LeelaFish is a modified version of the Lc0 engine that gets help from an outside (auxiliary) engine. There is Lc0 and another engine and the second engine does not have to be stockfish so why the name leelafish...

Re: SF Dev need 150s (2.5 min) to find Qh6

I do not know. I do not have a gpu today so I do not use lc0. It may be interesting to know how many studies stockfish cannot solve in a reasonable time but can see the solution after I show it to it. Here is one of them. I think that the problem is that engines do not have evaluation of at least a ...
