1)Chess machines are equal to human+machines in playing correspondence chess 2)Chess machine are equal to union of humans+chess machines in developing better chess engines. 3)Chess machines are equal to union of humans+chess machines in teaching humans to play chess better in OTB chess. Didn't we already reach #2 when Alpha Zero taught itself to play?
Not exactly because using ideas of humans together with using alphazero's method is still better than using only alphazero's method.

Stockfish still test patches written by humans in order to get better and I think same for lc0.

Re: Knight odds test blitz match dragon vs GM Lenderman

This Thursday, April 8, from 1 pm to 5 pm Eastern Daylight time, we plan to play a four hour series of blitz games between the latest Komodo Dragon (MCTS mode) and GM Alex Lenderman (FIDE 2624 standard, 2642 Rapid, 2651 Blitz) on chess.com at knight odds. This is not a show, just a test of a propos...

Re: Knight odds test blitz match dragon vs GM Lenderman

I can add that without demotion it is better to resign if you see that you do not win even if you can probably still draw because you do not want to lose time. I can also add that the best strategy for dragon to prevent the GM to earn money is never to resign and to use almost all the time that it h...

Re: Knight odds test blitz match dragon vs GM Lenderman

I think that it may be interesing if there is not only promotion if you win but also demotion if you lose and of course for promotion you do not win money unless you promote to level that you were not in it earlier so if you demote from 9+1 to 10+1 you need to win 2 games without losses to get more ...

Re: Draw by 3 fold repetition...

Because SF prefers 0.00 over -0.01. How it chooses between 2 0.00 moves? First come, first served. An alpha-beta search does not even get to know that the second move is 0.00 and not <0.00. Depends on the implementation Not when it implements alpha-beta. I recall Rebel Decade used to be able to swi...

Re: inclusive chess?

That is equivalent to normal chess with the rule added that losing the queen loses the game instantly, although you need to specify whether you need your original queen or any queen (i.e. from promotion). This would eliminate most endgames and so would appear to reduce draws a lot, but I'm not sure...

Re: You can't get there from here...

Hello Dann: When I was 19, I was in the military and driving in Maine, trying to find "The Old Man In The Mountain". I got lost and asked a local how to get there. "You can't get there from here.", he said. I eventually figured out that what he meant was that I was going the wrong way. Which brings...
