Re: Are these engines dead?

Rotor is not under development right now, but I have not yet given up on chess programming.

Re: The texel evaluation function optimization algorithm

In my tests the values derived are often far away from intuitive values. I also repeated tuning runs that derived then very different parameter sets with almost equal strength. So strange looking values are not so bad, however they might give you a hint about important and lesser important (maybe e...

My condolences to Don's family and friends.

Re: Rotor 0.8 released

Yes that missing DLL is the problem I had too. What I needed to install was something like the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package. You shouldn't have to do that, it ought to be possible to distribute an engine exe that simply works ? Hi Ray, I agree with you, this is too bothersome f...

Re: Rotor 0.8 released - processor affinity

Hi The released Win32 executable of Rotor 0.8 still had its affinity mask set to 2 (CPU1). I use this to make testing a bit reproducible, and had forgotten to change it back before releasing it. The consequence is that Rotor may use less CPU than expected in certain situations, for example if you r...
