Re: Leela, such a great engine (and innovation)?

I think it was clear who was the best in several time periods (even if, as you said, it didn't coincide with who was champion), and we didn't need hundreds of thousands of games to know. I have never said one hundred thousand games are necessary. If there is decent separation in the real strength a...

Re: armageddon in norway chess

What is the effect of castling? How would a variant where black is allowed castling, but white isn't, do? Or in the handicap game, clocks are equal and there's no draw odds but black isn't allowed to castle?

Re: Where are the funs of Leela?

All this does is introduce more uncertainty about which engine is the strongest. Consider Sedat's book contests like this one: https://sites.google.com/site/computerschess/scct-book-cs-24 All of the books are different and all of the engines (in this case asmFishWCP 130519 BMI2) and hardware are id...

Re: Leela, such a great engine (and innovation)?

How many of those were the best players in the world at the time they were champions? That is an important illustration between what a champion is and who the best player is. Are you saying we never knew who was the best player in the world in any time period because it was never proven scientifica...

Re: Honey-XPro Release

I see what you mean with c5. It appears to be artifact when using multipv and you have two moves which transpose easily and they are the two best moves, in this case c5 and Kb7. It shows this behavior even when moves don't transpose. The "berserking" is the +0.90s scores going up to +2.00s scores a...

I'm sure I am doing something wrong...
Then, on your chess software, edit the chess position so that the rook is on h8, copy the fen, and then find the difference between the right fen that has it on h8 and the one I posted (they should be identical.)

Re: Where are the funs of Leela?

Nobody is ever satisfied with the openings, even though competent people like Cato and Jeroen work on them. Every good chess player wants their favorite chess opening included. You will never satisfy everyone. Please reread the sentences you posted and see if they make sense in chess. They don't. T...

Re: Leela, such a great engine (and innovation)?

And finally, there is a huge difference between "I am convinced." And , "It has been proven." What's the difference? Really, I keep saying "Magnus Carlsen", "Magnus Carlsen" like a parrot, but it hasn't been proven to any degree that he's the strongest chess human on earth, yet "people being convin...

Re: Playing the endgame like a boss !!

You cannot seriously have thought the program would have written itself, can you? What should be next to qualify as 'Zero'? Should it also build its own hardware? Just take a scoop of sand from the beach, throw the FIDE manual on top of it, and wait until a Chess-playing machine emerges... Why not?...

Re: Honey-XPro Release

Hey Ovyron, When I copy and paste your fen string, I'm getting the black rook on g8 instead of on h8 per your image. Did you omit Qh4 on purpose? :P The fen I posted does have the rook on h8, and it's the one used by the forum to create the image with the rook on h8, so you must be doing something ...
