Re: Draw by 3 fold repetition...

Perhaps in such cases the new move failed high, which means new score > 0.00 (> old score), and the engined displayed 0.00 (old score) as the known lower bound. With more time it would then figure out its exact score. Rebel Decade never displayed fails lows, only exact scores (a failing high move w...

Re: Draw by 3 fold repetition...

Because SF prefers 0.00 over -0.01. How it chooses between 2 0.00 moves? First come, first served. An alpha-beta search does not even get to know that the second move is 0.00 and not <0.00. Depends on the implementation, I recall Rebel Decade used to be able to switch from some 0.00 move to another...

Also how she navigates the male dominated world of chess in the 60s as a young girl is interesting - so there's also a bit of feminism in there. Completely unrealistic, by the way. Judit Polgar revealed in an interview that the male dominated world of chess isn't anything like what you see depicted...

Re: Question regarding Hashtable size in Fritz17

I know that for hastables generally an even number is preferable If this is so then the engine will already be decreasing it itself so it's even or a power of 2. Otherwise the engine will perform better with 4915 than with 4914. But I am interested to know if it's ok to just leave the default value...

Re: Queens Gambit

draws are present at all levels and proliferate more at the top, yet she keeps winning/losing not matter what her level or that of her opponents is supposed to be. That's because the way she's represented. every single time the game would have been a draw she just kept pushing and pushing and swind...

Re: Do you test engines with or without using a book?

Both engines (should) get to play each side of each position. Also startpos already gives white an advantage without the engines doing anything :) This is a myth believed by most testers and rating lists. In reality humans aren't forced to play the same openings with both colors, they play the open...

Re: Perfect chess engine elo ( 32 men TB) can be within 200 of Stocfish in Tcec LTC conditions

It's very easy to refute BrendanJNorman, I introduce to you... THE RANDOM MOVER The random mover is a simple entity that takes a list of all legal moves in a position, then plays one at random. That's it. Now we need this question: Q. Can 32Men-TB beat itself? A. No. And that's all you need. QED ( F...

Re: SFNNUE Fails!! In this Positions!!

Here the question is about a program finding the best move in its PV with highest eval. U r diverting the OP to different way. But the same applies (if a losing unassisted engine doesn't resign lost position then the winning unassisted engine should be able to win any way it wants, including longes...

Re: SFNNUE Fails!! In this Positions!!

Someone playing as he likes and finding the best moves by a program are two different things. That I don't play the shortest mate doesn't mean I couldn't find it, I could have found it and decided to prolong the game (since the player that hasn't resigned did just that - how can it be argued that o...

There is no such rule. One can play as he wishes.
That's exactly what I've been saying

You're the one saying the shortest mate should be played, as if there was such a rule, as if the winning player couldn't play as they wish.
