Re: Popular opening books

Without changing any data, I made an edited version of the popbooks files. I combined the 3 files. I removed most of the opcodes, only keeping ce and pv. I re-ordered the records by descending ce value. I inserted id's. And then I made 2 "pgn" versions, one with the pv moves, and one without. http:/...

Re: Powerbook 2019 (ctg)

Did the computer engines that you used to make this book move entirely on their own, or they did they use opening books? If so, were those opening books based on human games?

Re: Polyglot extension tool

Hi thanks ED, that helps a lot. I don't know how many positions there are in the bin book, how can I know this? If I export the bin book to pgn with Lucas Chess I get 5000 different opening lines. (5000 games). How can I split the epd file in 5 parts? Is there some software to do that? Or do I have...

Tool to convert "pv" from "epd" to "pgn" format

I am working on a tool to convert "pv" data from an "epd"/"fen" record to "pgn" format (using FEN) so that it can be used in a PGN viewer/reader. It will also convert any epd to "pgn" even if no "pv" is present. It will also output "bm" if no "pv" is present. It will just be a shell without moves, o...

Re: Is there a PGN command line utility for Crosstables?

First to answer Jesse's question, "resultTable" is now part of the tool "resultList" in the current version of "40H-PGN-utilities". The output you want is "outRes3". A while back, I consolidated 3 separate, but similar, tools into "resultList". That is why it has 3 output files. Using "resultList"/"...

I noticed a reversal of strength (elo) with the last 2 stockfish patches. Perhaps that has transferred over to the latest asmfish.

Re: Why is Stockfish dominating the TCEC so far?

The domination is even stronger that it appears. The lone Houdini victory used the same opening with which Stockfish also won, with colors reversed. Stockfish won in 36 moves while it took Houdini 76 moves. [Event "TCEC Season 11 - Superfinal"] [Site "http://tcec.chessdom.com"] [Date "2018.04.03"] [...

Re: TCEC superfinal underway

I like watching SF play. But I hate to see another top engine get smashed, as is currrently happening. TCEC should have a "Mercy" rule that stops the super-final at the midpoint if one engine has a very large lead of about 8+ points. Since no adjustments or updates are allowed during the match, the ...
