Re: Official Release of OliThink 5.7.5 including a Java-GUI
In order to have a good comparison with Graham's great tourney "83RD AMATEUR SERIES (Division 6)" (see e.g. http://talkchess.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=76167&p=879037&hilit=OliThink#p879037), especially regarding the aspect of a very long time control. I played an OliThink Gauntlet with 1500 gam...

Re: Official Release of OliThink 5.7.5 including a Java-GUI
OliThink still can't use multiple CPU, so it's running just on one CPU. This doesn't seem to change that much, as it still wins most games against Glaurung 2.1 using 4 CPU. Here one game I like, OliThink didn't use any opening book: [Event "Computer Chess Game"] [Site "Olivers-MacBook-2.local"] [Dat...

Re: Expansion of Consciousness (Betsabe, Drofa, Dumb, Jumbo, KnightX, Nawito, OliThink, Paulchen, Shallow, Stash, Supern
It's rating should be overpriced because most of the opponents were significantly weaker. In my overall rating list OliThink 5.9.2 4 CPU (TC 20s+3s) is 23 ELO ahead of Bright 0.4a 4 CPU. So it's rating should be around 2930-2940 ELO in CCRL Blits rating list. Oh, 2930-2940 is impressive, more than ...

Re: Expansion of Consciousness (Betsabe, Drofa, Dumb, Jumbo, KnightX, Nawito, OliThink, Paulchen, Shallow, Stash, Supern
It's possible that OliThink 5.9.2 is somewhat at the end of his journey as I do not see any chance to improve with small changes. Yet. In order to improve it looks as I will have to make major changes. This should mean that the existing set of ideas is implemented almost perfectly and weights are t...

Obviously, new versions of Stash and OliThink were too strong for this tournament. Thank you for this great tournament. Very interesting.. OliThink 5.9.2 is actually notably smaller than OliThink 5.3.2 from 2010, nevertheless over 400 ELO stronger. I am quite proud of this. Of course I had the help...

Re: 83rd Amateur Series Division 6
Small sample size, plus the unpredictability that tournaments can throw up. OliThink 5.9.2 64-bit is performing around 2750 Elo in CCRL after a small number of games, but the gauntlet I'm starting today will sort out how accurate that rating is. Thank you so much, Graham! You are such a huge suppor...

Re: Win executable on cpu which do not support __popcnt64
Msys2 with gcc and/or clang is a great way to create windows binaries. That way it is also easier to keep a compatible code base for linux/win Yes I like them, too. Unfortunately OliThink loses about 10% performance with them. Visual Studio 2019 creates clearly faster code  This is why I was ...

Re: Manually tuned evaluation
Busted, and I as a math major. As a TA, I graded papers for 1200 first year calculus students. I do repent in dust and ashes. Oh, I didn't want to give any offence. Of course you are aware of this as a math major. But it's really not a well known fact.(*) In this case I would guess that N(0, 0) = l...
