Re: Stockfish/Honey options with underscores and Chessbase

UCI_LimitStrength is handled by the GUI elsewhere. It is part of UCI specification, so changing it to a version without underscore breaks this specification, see: http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/html/UCIProtocol.html Thanks I didnt know this. Still dont understand why options cant be seen in Chessbase etc.

Re: Stockfish/Honey options with underscores and Chessbase

I have noticed that Windows Chessbase doesn't like options with underscores in their names (stockfish, honey) and they don't show up when you view the engine properties. To confirm this I edited the stockfish source and changed UCI_LimitStrength to UCILimitStrength etc and now they show up in engin...

Re: It's here ...Honey X6

Excellent work Mike! Can you please clarify the use of adaptive, play by Elo and variety? Do adaptive and play by ELo override the strength setting? Can they be used together (does this make any sense) or is it one or the other? What does variety do and how does it interact with adaptive and play b...

Re: It's here ...Honey X6

well if you have a macOS computer anyway , or if you can compile your own other OS flavors will be released upon receipt. all versions have all bell and whistles, including play by FIDE Elo (or CCRL Elo) and improved adaptive and variety play FD versions have 'fortress detection' code written Joe E...

Hash in CB is handled outside of the UCI parameters.

Thanks Chief. I wonder if this is a "feature" or a bug in CB.

Re: Pre-Release McCain X4

I was able to get some Windows and macOS binaries for those I who like to kick the ties and provide input. https://github.com/MichaelB7/Stockfish/releases/tag/X4 Mike I tried the Lucas compile. The options look ok in CB15 but the hash shows 2764 even though I set it to 512 outside CB. This is the u...

Re: Anyone sells Gustav besides Schach Niggemann ?

They won't sell it to me because it is 49.50 euro and the minimum order is 50 euro. I don't see anything else I want to buy. Also, the shipping for the CD is $27.50. Seems high to me. Is there someplace else I can buy it? Or is Schach Niggemann the only distributor? Dann Out of interest, how does i...

Re: Mate in 82?

Eventually, I am going to write an AND/OR depth first proof search search using GPUs, but that is a project for when I retire, I think. We need a new solver for long mates. Would next week be too soon for you to retire 😀 Fraid so. I need to pay off all the debts from my wife's medical bills. I gues...
