Leela uses the AuxEngine's PV to boost the Policy of those moves. https://github.com/killerducky/lc0/wiki/LeelaFish With default settings and SF10 auxiliary on 1 thread, +40 Elo points to pure Lc0 w...

Lc0 and A0 has shown, that tactics are not so important at all. They have very small impact to rating obviously. Only important in tactical test suites :) .
It used to be 200 elo gain for each ply. Do you know what the elo gain per ply is now under normal tournament conditions.?

Have not seen all of it. Are there any plans to improve it and beat the world champion?

Colin Frayn also wrote a checkmate generator, where you supply the desired material configuration and it will generate checkmates with that configuration.
Do you know of a link ?

Re: " End of an Era" is coming?

I remember coming on talkchess a few months ago and this LC0 was just getting started. It looked promising but I expected at least 3 or 4 years before something that could reasonably compete with the top 3. Indeed exciting times for computer chess. But all lc0 had to do was emulate alpha zero. Why ...

Re: " End of an Era" is coming?

Computers are to stupid to find out about cars or malfunctions. And those guys who trust computers driving the highway are idiots . Most car crash fatalities are due to human error. Would you not trust a computer to drive your car in the future if fatality rates and insurance rates went down 10 fol...

todays cars have computers and can easily be manipulated.
old cars had no computer and are running no matter what you do.
Old cars had no computer controlled air bags, so more likely to kill you. Better a new-fashioned life than an old-fashioned death.

what is the sense of million of million of NPS when these positions are completely irrelevant ?
they are wasted energy.
Branching factor has gone down a lot the past 20 years which means less wasted nodes. That is software development for you.

Re: translating chess material and author's right

I teach chess in israel based on the step methods and I thought to translate some chess material that I bought from english to hebrew https://www.chess-steps.com/books.php The chess material include a lot of diagrams that I do not need to translate. Of course basically I have the right to translate...
