Re: K2 Chess Engine

The latest K2 v0.95 has an uncommon bug. Due to my tests It's strength at 40/1 min time control is very close to 2700 Elo in comparison with another well-known engine after 11'000 games. But at 40/25, which must be close to CCRL 40/40, it shows much lower performance, maybe by 100 Elo or even worse....

Re: New engine releases 2019

K2 v0.95 https://github.com/serg-meus/k2/releases/tag/095 New version of K2 chess engine is out, the ELO gain is about 80 points. In this release almost all eval terms have been tuned with Texel's method using positions from Zurichess testset. Also, some speedup and search improvements (LMR, NMR, fu...

K2 Chess Engine

Hello everybody!
I'd like to introduce a new version 0.91 of K2 chess engine, which is available from https://github.com/serg-meus/k2/releases/091.
Expected strength increase is about 40 Elo on long time controls.

Best regards,

Re: building for Android

I've had negative experience with cross-compiling for Android, too. The only way I found is using Android app CCTools with key -static-libstdc++ in the makefile.

Re: Usage sprt / cutechess-cli.

It seems strange that your elo0 param is greater than elo1 in first setup.

Re: low hanging fruit

For alpha-beta algorithm it is important to do a beta cutoff at the earliest possible move. In case when move ordering is very bad and all beta cutoffs are made at the last move, the search tree of alpha-beta is similar to minimax tree. So, the good method to test and improve the search will be to f...

I've had also some problems in Ubuntu 14.04 with cutechess libs. I don't remember exactly how I solve them, maybe a binaries will help. Link for download: https://yadi.sk/d/U2IpdLrFfbd2Q

Re: Pointless delays

Álvaro, yes, I've got nothing to do with pointless moves in a 'future' (inside search tree). I think my idea may be useful to avoid playing pointless moves by engine due to sorting of root candidates after each iteration.

Re: Pointless delays

What annoys me in engine play is that they often waste time on completely pointless threats... Has anyone ever tried a fundamental solution to this? I think I have an idea. In my engine I have evaluation function which depends on amount of reversible moves been made. If current node is a leaf node ...
