Re: TCEC 14 final: Lc0 just lost 3 games with tactical..

fwiw, i find t40 passing all of these (these being the 3 starkest blunders i've found so far) & avoiding a couple other, less-losing moves i've tested, but have only analyzed the Kf1 blunder at several MNs. 1r1q1rk1/p1pbbp2/7p/8/2PPnP2/1P6/PB2B2p/RN1Q1R1K w - - 0 20 31 [bm Qd3 (??)] 20. NNs use is & imo will be in revealing long-term plans & concepts; there's simply no way any conceivable-at-present NN can be completely trusted in a thorough analysis without AB-search double-checking it.

Re: TCEC 14 final: Lc0 just lost 3 games with tactical..

i'm not sure that's true, but i haven't seen 2 of them. i do know that t40 avoids the Kf1 blunder (tested id40743) after around ~200KNs, but i don't know how long it takes to find Bxf2+ after Kf1 with clean search: [d]6k1/b3q3/Q3b2p/p2p1p2/4n3/3B1N2/PP3PPP/2rNR1K1 w - - 6 34 when i checked, SFs repl...

Re: Lc0 with latest test30 nets is vastly superior positionally

Yes I still don't understand why Lc0 can play so incredibly strong and yet fall for 1 move tactical blunders. Fortunately that happens quite rarely, but I think that is something that should and will probably be fixed very soon. I mean to be able to see a shallow tactic that is only 3 ply deep cann...

Re: Lc0 with latest test30 nets is vastly superior positionally

i was wondering about scaling based on its CCC performance; hopefully that's the case. for whatever reason it's been my understanding that both t10 & t30 suffered in tactical tests over time (after first LR drop), so if that reverses it'd be huge as well. fwiw i got 153/200 with my settings; logs at...

Re: Lc0 with latest test30 nets is vastly superior positionally

Kai, have you tested t40 yet? I used drastically different parameters (60s/position, abandon after 10 or more plies+1 if best move) and stopped after 95 positions, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s already well ahead of AB engines. I can only guess a lot of essential knowledge from test35 was reta...

Re: Interesting game from CCC 5: Fire - Lc0

T40s endgame eval in general already seems phenomenal. Does anyone know of a good endgame test suite? I’m curious how it stacks up to T30 minus TBs.

Re: Lc0 ... the GOOD and the BAD

it depends on the net, probably -- i'm guessing m ansari was using t30 nets. nevertheless there's something to what you say. more current ones seem extremely likely to have played Qd5+ but interestingly the search actually hurts here; Qd5+ is immediately proposed as completely winning before eval dr...

Re: Super bullet chess: LC0 network 40445 (4000 selfplay elo) vs Stockfish 8

yes, but my point is there's no point of comparison. it's +26 elo in that sample, with that particular configuration. what's test10? test30? it's clearly an excellent result for a young net but to say test40 is already ahead of SF8 (in comparison to any previous benchmark) is simply not true.
