Re: Dragon
Does the Dragon licence permit that ? By making that available free you may be taking business away from the Komodo team. Good question and not really sure how that works. There are other users offering Komodo, Dragon, Shredder, Houdini, etc. I see it no different than letting a friend sit down at ...

ncm testing at its best
The last SF patch introduces no functional change and yet, it's performance as tested at ncm is more than 12 Elo points behind the previous version. The combined error margins are below 11 Elo points.

Re: Polyglot - merge-book oddity
I am just worried that folks who did not read this thread will use the new version without understanding the consequences, hence I gave it a different name, not Polyglot but Merge-Books . Well, the old behavior should count as a bug, right?'... . For historical accuracy I should point out that this...

Re: Polyglot - merge-book oddity
In MCTS all nodes should have been played to the end at least once through a 'rollout'. Doesn't the latest one get interrupted by the TC? If the engine waited for them all to finish, wouldn't it lose on time? Books could be mini-maxed and that would be an improvement over current polyglot 2*W+D, bu...

Re: Polyglot - merge-book oddity
What engines do best is play, a more or less accurate evaluation is a byproduct of how they're tested. If the DB has reliable information, score should be best.

Re: Polyglot - merge-book oddity
In the Wikipedia article about MCTS they say "Rounds of search are repeated as long as the time allotted to a move remains. Then the move with the most simulations made (i.e. the highest denominator) is chosen as the final answer. " Isn't that the most played move? Having results = playing games to ...

Re: Polyglot - merge-book oddity
Weights purely from statistics are flawed anyway. You would have to minimax the opening tree in MCTS fashion to correctly judge the moves. MCTS may be good for playing a game based on partial statistics (not all moves have been searched to the end), but when you have results for all stored position...

Re: Queens Gambit
draws scarcely seem to be part of her playing record At least as shown, and as far as I can recall, completely non-existent. She draws against Benny Watts. Can you give me the episode and minute:seconds point at which the scene begins? The way I remember it, she lost to tie for the tour? draws are ...
