Re: Linux friendly engines at all levels

Little Wing at 2050 ELO is well tested on GNU/Linux and stable even in very fast games: https://github.com/vinc/littlewing

Purple Haze at 1900 ELO is older but also well tested: https://github.com/vinc/purplehaze

Thanks Vincent. These are very good news. I'm going to test the new Little Wing as soon as possible.
Great! Can't wait to see how it'll perform on CCRL!

Little Wing 0.5.0 released

After a few weeks of work and 8 months since the last release of Little Wing , a chess engine written in Rust, the new version 0.5.0 is ready! Most of the gain in strength (around 40 ELO) comes from a faster move generator implementing hyperbola quintessence. But the two most important features are ...

Re: Little Wing v0.4.0

Vincent, You must be joking. 350 Elo progress? That's huge! Keep up the good work. Thanks! I'm anxious to see how this version will do on CCRL, my own tests are always a bit optimistic. $ cutechess-cli -engine cmd=littlewing-v0.3.0-136-g22c7fed proto=xboard -engine cmd=sjaakii proto=xboard -engine ...

Little Wing v0.4.0

Hello, The new version 0.4.0 of Little Wing, a bitboard chess engine written in Rust, is out! It should play better chess now, going up in strength from 1650 ELO to around 2000. There's still a lot of work to do on the evaluation side but I'm happy with the search side for now. Added - Add library w...

Re: Most common destination squares from 1M chess games

So I wrote a little script to count the most common destination squares from every moves and here's the result: There is a tool in SCID that does that and it's called "piece tracker" (but there was a bug in 4.6.4 when selecting multiple pieces, so it would be better to compile the git version). How...

Most common destination squares from 1M chess games

I'm in the process of writing my own piece square tables for my engine and decided to try to extract some statistics from a PGN database. The best I could find was KingBase Lite with almost a million games with ELO > 2200: http://www.kingbase-chess.net/ So I wrote a little script to count the most c...

Re: Windows binaries of LittleWing 2.0 by Vincent Ollivier

Thanks. I look but can't see. OMG! I wanted to express that I had been blind not to see what was in front of my eyes. I have already downloaded the executable. Apologies for the misunderstanding. No problem. I thought it might be a case of colour blindness due to different blue tones ;-) Yeah the c...
