the worst part of modern science and all the psuedo intellectual arm chair scientists who flood the net with their fantastical opinions, all because they read a brief history of time is that they actually do think they have the answers to everything, when in reality they know exaclty zip.

and that 'energy cannot be created or destroyed' seems to be forgetting the fact that something (the universe) was once created (came into being - no i'm not a creationist), surely this is also the basis of causality as well, otherwise your own theories disporove your own theories.

slightly off topic, but recently i was called a fool who knew nothing because in general chat on playchess i doubted the claim that nothing could ever travel faster than the speed of light, i was called an idiot because i didn't just automatically swallow the views of the god like and surely right ...

i think it is more due to the internet and online chess rather than chess engines why standards are increasing. for ex...a few years ago it was a lot of effort, travel and cost for upcoming players (any player) to find decent oppnts. now they can play strong players and even GMs from all over the wo...

chesscube ratings are highly inflated and the overall standard of play is rather weak. i also find the graphical layout garish. playchess ratings seem much more realistic IMO. i just cannot understand why anyone would ever pay money to use chesscube when there is playchess and ICC, but some do!
