Re: Is Black's compensation after 16. g3 really sufficient?

Yes, after all the engines are giving an advantage of over 1.00 to White. The question is whether Black can draw. If Black is worse after 16. g3 but not losing, one can argue about whether the word "unsound" really applies to Black's play. Hello Jean Paul, sorry, I missed your reply here! No sure s...

Split off from 'Last good Stockfish'

Anyway, I'm looking forward to a release of Bluefish in an official fork to check it out :) So, did this happen and I missed it? I thought that you were going to do it, take up programming I mean. :) I believe that you already managed to get Large Pages working in Stockfish Ovyron, a good while bac...

Re: What was the last good Stockfish?

Were you able to download Bluefish anywhere? Is it available? Sure, I can make it available, Carl :) See Bluefish BMI2 (Beta) . No guarantees it has "style" though. It's just a half hour work or so, not a real Stockfish variant or fork yet. Well, you must be congratulated on this one, Eelco! Bluefi...

Re: What was the last good Stockfish?

Hi Mike, sure, as it's GPL I added the sources in the .7z archive. It is just on the Rybka forum thread? It should compile as a regular stockfish. The changes are in types.h, evaluate.cpp and material.cpp. The original files are always renamed to evaluate_def.cpp etc. but the makefile will not read ...

Re: What was the last good Stockfish?

Well, yes, but sometimes even the Stockfish can be beaten by something that has all its evaluation parameters out of whack. And sometimes that thing can even win a match that it should not win by any logical statistics. Like it did here: Stockfish 2019-09-16 No Contempt - Bluefish 2019-09-25 No Cont...

Re: Is Black's compensation after 16. g3 really sufficient?

Hi guys, yes that is right, Shredder's way of indicating a "jump out of the search window" by a Fail Low or a Fail High. Other GUIs do that a bit differently sometimes. Stockfish for a while gave really long PVs even in case of a FL or FH but the moves are often very imprecise in such cases (*), eve...

Re: Stockfish 190826_dll_fix

The Stockfish binary sent in for TCEC was using a Windows dll ("dynamically linked library") that turned out to have a bug. The bug was somewhat noticed before by CoffeeOne in Stockfish team but it was not realized it was in the dll. Stockfish became unresponsive twice. If it had had three hangs it ...
