https://drive.google.com/file/d/11RuFBvCmZBCzY2ZKqoHctcOcGvu9QMnw/view?usp=sharing I analyzed 12,000 really important positions (the most commonly played positions), and 1000 useless ones (named openings that are rarely or never played). Depth is generally in the 36 to 60 ply range, with the average...

Re: Attachment
It simply does not work any more.
I usually save the object to google share or OneDrive or some other publicly viewable object store and then post a link.
Sometimes, I post a message with an attachment in the Rybka forum and post a link to it here.
In any case, you are right. Attachments don't work.

Mike B: Mike, I was looking in my Engine Personality for SF 260221 in Aquarium running on dual Xeon system, and I did not see Large Pages options. Does that mean that Large Pages option would come up only on an AMD system? You have to enable large pages. There is information on this page about how ...

Re: Future progress of chess software in chess
There are wins in correspondence chess, and everyone is using Stockfish and other strong engines to help with the analysis. There are also losses, and a large number of draws. What part of the losses and draws is the influence of humans? It is hard to say. I think that very strong humans can add mor...

Re: We are past the stage where the OS has become the virus
Reading a bit further, there does appear to be a way to completely disable it. I followed all the steps, but I am skeptical. I have done the same sort of thing for "Automatic Updates" many times, and Windows always manages to turn it back on, despite whatever article I read saying that it would be p...

We are past the stage where the OS has become the virus
My chess analysis was running slow. So I looked at what processes in memory were doing. There was this thing: Compattelrunner.Exe It was using 17% of my compute power, and my chess task which should be at 95% was struggling. Apparently, it is MS Windows spy process that you cannot turn off. So I fou...

Re: Future progress of chess software in chess
AlphaZero's code is written by humans. There was human input everywhere: general design and concept, net format, search algorithm, training game parameters, and so on. Having some part that can improve through automated training is not the same thing at all as humans being useless in the process an...

I actually have both in the table: "The tactician knows what to do when there is something to do; whereas the strategian knows what to do when there is nothing to do. - Gerald Abrahams", "The tactician must know what to do whenever something needs doing; the strategist must know what to do when noth...
