Re: Upcoming graphics cards for Leela

I just bought a 1080 Ti because you can get them under $700 now. Well, for AI (Leela ). New cards are advertised as 10x faster ?? https://wccftech.com/nvidia-rtx-2080-ti-8-times-pascal-performance-ray-tracing/ If Werewolf's numbers are accurate, then 2080 Ti - 13.4 over 1080 Ti - 11.3: give...

Re: BIG NEWS! The 7 man syzygy tablebase files are complete.

Just the CPUs are $50K. Plus RAM, hard disks, mainboard... => about $70K? Amazing that a $70K computer has completed a similar job in almost a same period (5-6 months) which Lomonosov supercomputer which is 75 tons and worth $63M (900 times more expensive) Recall also that the Lomonosov files are d...

Re: 7-men Syzygy attempt

Ah, I see the official Stockfish has been patched now. I guess the code is independent from my patch, since it doesn't take in the Robin Hood hashing nor overflow trick, and thus needs a four times as big hash table :-) You might submit your patch to the SF group effort. It sounds like it would be ...

Re: Lc0 saturation.

The alternative, less happy, theory is that as the net gets bigger the gains are cancelled out by lower nps. Test10 with its 256x20 architecture represented a huge improvement over the 192x15 main net. Deepmind reported that for Alphago Zero, 256x40 ended up far stronger than 256x20. So far, all av...

Re: 7-men Syzygy attempt

Instead of 8 man files, I think the next logical project is the 7 man DTM with Ronald's new format. Or 6-man DTM50, for that matter. Actually, the next logical project is getting the probing code into Stockfish and Fathom. Cfish can already do it, so it should not be a very big step to incorporate ...
